I like to think of myself as an ‘early adopter’ when it comes to stand up paddling and the sport has been a big part of both my personal and professional fitness practice and global explorations since 2008.
I suppose my biggest contribution to SUP was being the first person to navigate the red tape and be issued a Special Recreation Permit to teach SUP by the U.S. National Park Service, paving the way for others to operate commercially on public lands. I’m back in my home state of Utah after a few stints of living on both the East and West Coasts of the U.S., where I work in the outdoor and fitness industries and can hike, bike, and stand up paddle my way through Utah’s spectacular outdoor playgrounds.

INTERESTING FACTS
I’m a former wildlife biologist and have a secret love of insects, particularly shiny metallic beetles. When I was 16 years old I was the National 4-H winner for my insect collection and took my first plane ride to Chicago. Many years later I was in insect heaven while working on the entomology archives at the Smithsonian Institution National Museum of Natural History in Washington, D.C.

I’m working on my first book to educate and empower fitness trainers and yoga instructors everywhere to lead their own outdoor fitness retreats and help our communities live happier, healthier lives. Watch for the book to be released in Summer, 2018!
