HOW TO FIT A SUP LEASH

ERS LEASH INSTRUCTIONS

A properly inflated board is essential for getting the best out of your session – It’s important to adhere to a routine of correct technique and proper practice every time you inflate or deflate your board. Whilst these tips are intended for Earth River SUP inflatables we have generalised this guide so it can be applied to most inflatable SUPs. In not using an Earth River SUP always consult the specifics of your particular board to prevent potential damage.

INSTRUCTIONS

ERS SUP leashes are designed to be worn comfortably around the ankle or calf and come in several cord configurations for different paddling environments and board lengths. In general, coiled leashes are preferred for flat water, straight leashes are preferred for surfing, and hybrid straight/coiled cords are appropriate for usage on any type of water.

SECURE VELCRO STRAP TO D-RING

Attach the strap at the end of the leash to the D-Ring at the tail of your board. Separate each of the three velcro closures, push one side of the strap through the D-Ring, then rejoin each of the velcro closures in sequence. When properly attached, it will look like the photo above.

WRAP CUFF AROUND ANKLE OR CALF

Secure the velcro padded cuff anywhere from your ankle to just below your knee, with the cord extending back toward the tail of the board.

RINSE AND DRY AFTER USE

For long lasting perfromance, rinse your leash with fresh water after use and allow to dry before storing.

DO NOT USE ON MOVING RIVERS

On moving rivers, always use a leash that attaches at waist level with a quick release mechanism to be used in case of entrapment. At this point in time ERS does not manufacture a commercially available quick release leash but we are happy to make recommendations or provide instructions to skiller paddlers who understand the dangers, risks, and recommended precautions involved in this area of the sport.
