COLORADO / VIRGINIA

I started stand up paddling when I heard that there was white water sup instructor position opening up. Having not SUPed much prior to teaching kids on the river I was quite nervous but after getting some certifications and paddling everyday it became natural for me. Through out my SUP experience I have always been able to teach paddle boarding both on white water and flat water, its nice to help someone hone in a peel out or just get the basics so they can feel comfortable on standing on a board. Teaching people to paddle board is my favorite part of SUPing.

I have always been a big fan of running bigger water and rivers which are abundant in the eastcoast. After moving to Colorado I had to adapt to the creek style of paddling on the smaller and shallower rivers in the west. While Colorado rivers are seasonal and smaller Colorado does have a thriving river surfing community, and with white water parks built all over you are never far from a surf. I really embraced the river surfing aspect of Colorado, something I was unfamiliar with before I moved, and have started shaping my own river surf boards. Hopefully I’ll be able to shape my own SUPs some day soon.
