I’m an outdoorsy kid since I was born and fell in love with nature around the same time. My mom got me a tandem kayak to paddle with her when I was 3 years old, and I’ve been feeding my addiction of water sports ever since.
I also participate in many mountain sports like snowboarding and downhill mountain biking during the offseason. I first paddled sup in 2010 when I was ten years old. I instantly knew that I wanted a paddleboard and that it the perfect water craft for me. I got my first board with my allowance and mom’s help at twelve years old then another one after working for Surf Reston at fourteen. I started teaching sup when I was thirteen years old and specialized in throwing other kids off the board. I’ve matured a little bit, and now manage to get all ages to jump in the water on their own will. I’ve been teaching ages 4 and up going on my fifth year now and I’m still excited for the possibilities of sup. Surf Reston teaches sup primarily on ERS boards. They’re durable, light and so stable for teaching. I personally prefer them for their flexibility in all water conditions from whitewater to flatwater. I am never bored on an ERS board.
